Change is hard
The school system is set up to help kids through the academic transition of beginning school again.
Schedule and emotional changes may affect your children in terms in large ways.
Do not go on the extreme of making life more difficult AND Do not go to the extreme of being too permissive because of worry.
How to help your kids transition back to school
1. Keep your routines going. It communicates safety and predictably. This is crucial in a season where things are changing.
2. Be deliberate in engaging your child. Make sure you see them and they can see you. You kids may not use it to tell you their biggest fears but the knowledge of knowing they are not alone goes a long way.
